- Julie May Added 2017-08-02★ ★ ★ ★ ★I met the captain of the Lafferty even though the ice bridge was still 'in place' while I was there. Terrific smile and attitude. The pictures posted are of the Lafferty about 2 weeks before she could sail this year and of crossing on the ice road. Pine trees are used to mark the edge of the ice road, when our group crossed there was quite a bit of water on top of the road so it felt like crossing in our own little river inside the river. There was also lots of sailor's rope around, some of it right in the middle of the ice road. A neat place to visit any time of year.
